Bushidokan for Adults (Mixed Martial arts System)
The Bushidokan system is primarly a Mixed Martial arts system. In Mixed martial arts students use interdisciplinary forms of fighting that include Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Karate, Boxing, Kickboxing, Grappling and others to their strategic and tactical advantage. No single discipline reigns.
The system includes: escaping and joint locking techniques, takedowns, throws, strikes and kicks, ground fighting, pressure points, choking, strangulation. The Bushidokan system also involves the teaching of the use of some weaponry (sword, knife, staff and Jo).
Bushidokan itself is a wondrous martial art because it truly uses technique over strength to achieve its objective! It is considered one of the perfect self-defence martial arts.
Simply, Bushidokan works. It works very well as a self defence tool. It also is a fantastic conditioning tool for strength, stamina, flexibility and awareness.
It is practical for both women and men.
Our training method is based on reality, not fantasy. Being prepared to repel any assault is the primary focus. Should the situation involve a one-on-one assault, or multiple attackers, or the use of weapons, one will be prepared to deal with it. Statistically, about 90% of real life encounters end up on the ground or in grappling. Grappling is a term meaning to "wrestle, grab, restrain or hold." Learning how to defend oneself against these is an important aspect in learning to defend oneself.
Bushidokan is not only a martial art but a martial science as well. Principles and concepts from psychology (study of the mind), kinesiology (movement of the body), physiology (study of the body), osteology (study of the bones), and myology (study of muscle) are taught.
Aspects of other martial arts are also included in classes. These include Jujitsu (Brazilian), Aikido (Aikikai and Ki), Wrestling (submission), Boxing/Kickboxing, and Judo. This makes Bushidokan a most comprehensive martial art in that it equips the practitioner with the tools to deal effectively - offensively and defensively - with all ranges of hand to hand fighting situations.
